At Historic Huguenot Street, we understand that geographic, fiscal, and time-related constraints often prevent schools from visiting historic sites, museums, and other institutions which will impart valuable knowledge and experiences onto their students. With our new outreach program, our museum educator will bring the rich, multicultural history of Historic Huguenot Street directly into your classroom at a lower cost and greater convenience than that of a conventional field trip.
Historic Huguenot Street’s outreach program aims to bring engaging and informational hands-on activities, which are aligned with New York State Common Core and Next Generation Learning Standards and grade-level curricula, directly into classrooms across the state. This initiative will greatly expand the accessibility of Historic Huguenot Street’s educational programming.
Cost: The base rate for the program is $100/class. Title I schools receive a 50% discounted rate with appropriate documentation. There is a fee of $0.67 per mile between Historic Huguenot Street and your school to accommodate the travel costs of our education staff.
Maximum Distance: Historic Huguenot Street staff will travel within a 60 mile radius of New Paltz, New York to bring history into your classroom.
Our school programs have been recognized by the NYS Cultural Education Department for adhering to the leading NYS standards and Common Core standards.
Please book outreach school programs at least one month in advance.
To ensure that all students are able to learn about the history of their community, Title 1 schools may participate at a discounted rate. Field Trip Grants are available to public schools in Dutchess and Ulster County through the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley.
