Archaeology on the Street

Our popular What Lies Beneath: Summer Archaeology Camp returns again for the 2013 season. The camp is coordinated by experienced Historic Huguenot Street staff members from several departments, making it a unique, interdisciplinary learning opportunity for your child. Campers will spend time conducting a live dig on site including excavating, cleaning and cataloging archaeological finds. They will also learn about the basic principles and practices of archaeology, explaining its importance to daily life and understanding of past cultures. Additional time will be spent on historic crafts, indoor and outdoor games, related educational activities and tours of the museum site. The week concludes with a camper-created exhibit of artifacts found during the dig.

2013 What Lies Beneath: Summer Archaeology Camp runs Monday July 15th through Friday July 19th from 9:00AM-3:00PM daily. Camp is limited to 12 registrants aged 9-12. Preregistration is required and space tends to fill up quickly. $300 per week/$275 members of Historic Huguenot Street. 50% refund available for written cancellations received by June 15th.

Late pick-up is available at 4:00 PM daily for an additional $50 fee/$40 members of HHS. Extra hour includes additional crafts and games.

Please click here to download the registration form. Once completed, it must be returned to HHS.
